We then got a new route provided by the owner oft he Outside Inn ( Evans) which turned out to be a great find as we rode along quiet country roads ( mostly).
Here we are ready for the ride this morning.
The 84 km didn't seem so much given yesterday's effort. We dropped more altitude from about 600 m to about 200 m at the end. We also has a true summers day with the average on road temp of 37! ( probably 5 degrees hotter than the air temp).
Goose found this road sign to his liking, the words were 'you are a beautiful human being' , pretty much summed him up.
The Black Cav was well protected in yellow and won the first sprint of he day ( the first 45 mph sign we passed).
Rocket covers the Black Cav rather than his 'regular ' the Goose.
Another crossing of the Yuba River
Raccoon road kill. We also passed a fresh dead skunk not quite in the middle of he road. Yes it did have a specific smell.
Lunch at Dolan, we were hoping for a shop but had to settle for banana in a tortilla from Priscilla, which wasn't half bad anyway.
Nearing the end the Black Cav tries to shake M2.
In a surprise return to form Goose won the sprint finish as the peloton caught the breakaway and as it was a downhill finish I guess gravity helped Goose get across the line. The Duke drove Priscilla today and racked up extra points having to do an unprecedented four u turns on a relatively straight forward route.
Black Cav remains in yellow but the field is closing with most riders less than 100 points ( or a stage or KOM) from the lead. M2 tried to work hard In the heat but still holds on to Cadel the red koala.
