Rest day and update on yesterday

We left Jackson early and rode uphill for half an hour tomPine Grove where we had a very nice breakfast at the Blue Moon Cafe. The service was extra friendly as the host took a liking to one of our team ( the one with royal blood).
From then on it was all uphill for the next 75 km at mostly 6 per cent grade. Luckily the wind was slight from our backs and the temperature was 21 in the sun and 18 in the shade, one advantage of the altitude we were gaining.
Interestingly there were a number of stages of roadworks which ended up being more to our liking as it banked the cars up and we could cycle in quiet patches. Some of the hold ups were quite long.
This is what we had to look at for 7 hours!

The domestiques prepared healthy lunch= tortilla wraps, cherries, blueberries

At each 1000 foot sign we had a sprint finish.

This is Silver Lake almost at the top of the climb. Very clear water and some snow on the high peaks.

Here the Black Cav confirms that he has tried to win two sprints but failed!

The author, the Electric Cowboy, demonstrating his sense of achievement at making it to the top.

To give effectualisation to the result the Garmin shows 6 hours 57 seconds riding time for 94,5 km to the top of Carson Pass at a height of 2594 m. See the Strava track of my climb further below.

On the other side a typical alpine meadow and nice 4 % downhill on very nice hotmix.

That was how much climbing we did yesterday, note how it is all uphill for 75 km and then bumpy to the summit. also see that i am the 4th fastest up Tanyard hill, meaning not many other strava riders have climbed it.
We all enjoyed it though.

Today we Rested. Photo below of Lake Tahoe.

Rocket and the Duke went in search of a replacement for Prescilla.

And M2 is still in yellow as he won most of the sprints while the Duke claimed the CArson Pass KOM. Rocket now carries Cadel the red koala to keep Red happy from last tour.
We also spent this morning learning a lot about Di2(electric gear changing) as the local bike shop couldn't fix the Duke's rear gears which we finally sourced back to a loose connection.

So early to bed tonight for a nice ride to Virginia City tomorrow starting with a tour along the lake then deeper into Nevada.
