Today we rode straight out of California into Nevada, which meant that the points were reversed. Here is Goose rolling through the fir trees alongside Lake Tahoe
By the time we got to cave rock M2 was already losing some serious points for 'showing off' and trying to ride off into the sunset. Notice Prescilla providing extra wind assistance for Goose. Nice work from Black Cav in the drivers seat atop Prescilla
Getting ready for the tunnel, all of 100m. Lake on the left
Then it was on to yet another climb to Spooner Pass, but this time reverse points saw Rocket claim 100 points for Queen of the Mountain. First pit stop for water
And then a downhill of European proportions. Long sweeping road and FAST. 70 kph+ , but needed to stay clear of the dead gutters every now and then
Lucky I had to stop and take some pictures. Now we had moved into the desert
And before you knew it we were in Carson City for morno s.
Inside the cafe
Then outside
The pub next door and later we bought our cowboy hats
Now really in the desert, I wonder what the horses actually eat
Then lunch at Silver City
Before a steep 15% climb for only 5 km to Virginia City
Tucked away to the right is the town
After settling in complete with boxing kangaroo unfurled by our hosts
we found Virginia City to be A very authentic old mining and cowboy town that was really busting with interesting people and this went on till well into the night at the Red Dog Saloon preceded by 'snacks' at the Bucket of Blood hotel.
Yes even steam train service, we could have used that on the climb
So after a tough climbing day with 'Nevada rules' reverse points applying, Goose found himself in yellow for tomorrow while M2 was punished severely for staying out front in the yellow and paid the ultimate penalty losing enough points to be given 'cadel' the red koala
Goose 415 (yellow)
